Rendez-vous aux jardins 2024: « Discover gardens with your 5 senses » ».
Designed to awaken the senses and to help everyone discover the variety and richness of gardens, the « Rendez-vous aux jardins » events highlight the art of gardening and gardening heritage. They underline their essential role in our well-being and our identity in both urban and rural areas. Listening to music playing and choirs or simply to the natural sound of the garden is a new way to discover this specific heritage.
From 3 to 6 June 2022, Luxembourg is once again participating in the Rendez-vous aux jardins, launched in 2018 by HEREIN, a European network for information and cooperation on cultural heritage which brings together European public administrations responsible for national policies and strategies in the cultural heritage sector. In 2021, 21 countries responded to the call by opening 2,958 gardens to the public in Europe!
The Ministry of Culture invites any public or private interested party to participate in this project and to open the doors of its park or garden for one or more days during the period June 3 to 6, 2022. The project aims to raise visitors’ awareness of the protection, conservation, maintenance, restoration, or creation of gardens as well as the transmission of knowledge and knowhow in a context of climate change.
The Ministry of Culture will promote the event through its website www.jardinsluxembourg.lu, the publication of a leaflet and promotion through social media. He will submit the agenda to the national press. Find the international agenda here https://rendezvousauxjardins.culture.gouv.fr/
Rising temperatures, falling water resources, climate change threatens the historical and traditional heritage of our gardens.
The consequences of this change directly affect our garden heritage:
We will have to adapt the garden and gardening practices to the new situation…
